coURSES AND Initiatives

Partner organizations request visiting professionals to teach in a wide variety of specialties including: preventive medicine and screening, laparoscopy, Neurology, HIV/AIDs care, Tuberculosis care, urgent care in pediatrics and neonatal resuscitation, advanced cardiac life support, ultrasonography, and first aid and CPR. EqualHealth has also taught academic modules including evidence based medicine, research methods, introduction to epidemiology and bio-statistics.

Nursing leadership and team work and communication have been taught by EqualHealth faculty. EqualHealth also offers a leader development program (LDP) at partner institutions. The LDP has resulted in long-term multidisciplinary collaborations engaging providers and communities in care operations and improvement. A mentoring model pairs young Haitian professionals with a one-on-one visiting professors creating opportunities to serve as teaching assistants, co-lecturers or discussion facilitators as appropriate.

EqualHealth maintains a database of over 100 faculty interested in teaching in Haiti. Partner institutions select from this registry to meet their specific needs and to identify opportunities for professional growth. Visiting professionals travel to Haiti for 1-3 weeks to provide educational sessions. Preference is given to candidates who are fluent in French, Haitian Creole or Spanish and who have previous experience working in developing world settings.
